Maximum age: In its native range, it may live as long as 150 to 250 years [2,3]. However, its lifespan in its invaded range may be much shorter [3].
Ecology: Little is known regarding its use by North American fauna, however few native insects eat it [2,3]. Native maples such as Acer saccharum and Acer rubrum, on the other hand, provide forage for deer [2].
Ethnobotany: In the eastern United States and Midwest, it is commonly used in landscaping and urban plantings [2]. In Europe, it is sometimes used as a veneer for violins and other specialty items [2,3].
