Join us for the BIG DIG V, Saturday, November 4, on the west side of the Student Apartment Complex (STAC) at 8:30. Help us plant 30+ trees! Great fun, great comraderie, and great food provided by Chartwells.
The Friends of the Buffalo State Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum was instituted in fall of 2016 to help bring our once beautiful campus landscape back to its former glory. The Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum are sustained by donations and volunteers to help in any way that supports the mission of the Arboretum. The Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum seek to restore much of what was lost in the October storm of 2006, emerald ash borer infestation and construction loss and have sponsored several tree planting days or “Big Digs” using donated funds and volunteers to plant trees across campus. They have also sponsored making our tree database publicly available on the arboretum website and other educational opportunities. Come be part of this great organization.
Be part of the Friends of the Arboretum whether by volunteering, donating, or becoming a member. There are many opportunites to help enhance our campus aboretum and the landscape in general. check out our facebook page
For the most current events of the Arboretum please click here. The Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum has sponsored four "Big Dig" Events on campus, planting nearly 150 trees. More events are being planned for the future. Other events are centered around Arbor Day, Earth Day, and sustainable initiative on campus. See the storybook map of the trees funded by the Friends that were planted in the spring of 2018.
We’re looking to build a large membership base so for only $20.00 you can become a member of the Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum. That twenty bucks will go toward purchasing trees and to handle other minor ancillary costs that will inevitably arise as the movement goes forward. In the near future we anticipate sponsoring fund-raising events and related activities to sustain the project over time. We are always planning new tree plantings and community outreach. Click here for the membership form. Will that be cash or check? Click here if you want to join immediately and pay by credit card.
